How soon can I get an appointment?
New patients are usually contacted within 24 hours and seen within three business days. Urgent referrals from emergency departments or other physicians are accommodated the same or next day.
Do I need a referral?
Many insurance plans do not require one, but some HMO plans do. Call us and we will check your plan. Bring any imaging (MRI or CT) on a disc or have it sent electronically before your visit.
What should I bring to my first visit?
A photo ID, insurance card, a list of current medications, prior imaging reports and discs, and any notes from physicians who have treated the problem. Complete the new-patient intake form online beforehand if you can.
Which insurance plans are accepted?
The practice participates with most major commercial plans, Medicare and many Medicare Advantage plans through Privia Health. Please call to confirm your specific plan.
Does Dr. Daggubati recommend surgery for everyone he sees?
No. A large share of patients leave with a non-surgical plan or a recommendation to watch and follow up. Surgery is recommended when it is the treatment most likely to help, and you will understand exactly why.
Can I get a second opinion?
Yes. Second opinions on brain tumors, spine surgery recommendations and complex diagnoses are welcome; bring your imaging and any prior reports.
Where is surgery performed?
At the hospital that best fits your procedure, location and insurance: Reston Hospital Center, Virginia Hospital Center, Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center, Frederick Health Hospital, Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center or Holy Cross Hospital. Many outpatient spine procedures are performed at ambulatory surgery centers.
How do I reach the office after hours?
Call the main number; the on-call service will reach Dr. Daggubati or the covering neurosurgeon. For emergencies, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
